The two tiny Mirror hatchlings didn’t get it. They didn’t get it at all.
Why did they look like their mother?
Covered in colorful spots and blotches. Dull wings decorated by a fat eyespot. Thick stripes along their limbs and neck.
Why couldn’t they look like their father?
Histo shone and sparkled in the sun, as if he had diamonds for scales. A brilliant blue body and darker wings, with spines along his back. He was gorgeous and gathered attention wherever he went. Not to mention that he was a Wildclaw.
Tigo and Papillo were jealous. They wanted to be that shiny! Why did they have to look so much like their boring mother, Flin?
